Dear Mr./Ms. Bossname,
Let me start by saying I love my job at XYZ Company. However, as you know, I have quite a commute. Lacking public transportation options, I drive to the office each day from the city. With the rising cost of gas, the travel has become financially unsustainable.
The bottom line is, I’m going to need to resign unless we are able to negotiate some kind of mileage or fuel reimbursement. Alternatively, a pay increase of 10 percent could help absorb these new costs.
Please let me know what the company’s flexibility might be on this matter, as I’m sure I’m not the only person affected by gasoline prices. Thank you very much for your consideration.
