There will be a formal announcement as part of Sunday's sermon, but I wanted to let you know now: The Lord has called me to another church and I will be resigning as your pastor.
I will greatly miss my church family here at Anytown Church. Our membership has grown from 190 to 378 in the two years of my ministry here, thanks to your efforts. The capital fund has grown as well, and even after the recent purchase of vestibule furniture, hymnals, and Communion supplies, Anytown Church is well on its way to replacing the folding chairs with pews. I'm so pleased to leave the church in such a blessed condition! Even more importantly, our youth group has thrived thanks to the bus donation.
God has taught me much during my stay here, and I am so very grateful. Many of you have become close friends, and I pray that we will keep in touch. Praise God for dear friends who encourage us through the peaks and valleys of our worldly existence.
I trust that you are in good hands with our deacons. An interim pastor has yet to be appointed by the regional leadership, which will also spearhead the search for my replacement. Of course, you as church members will be called upon in prayer as pastor candidates are considered.
