Dear Professor,
It is with regret that I must withdraw from your Widgets 301 class.
I greatly appreciate your offer for me to come in during office hours for additional help. Unfortunately, I underestimated the rigor and time commitment of the rest of my course load. Additionally, I realize now that I struggled in Widgets 101 and didn’t retain or synthesize enough information to succeed in your class this semester.
My hope is that I can enroll again next year, when I’m better prepared and have a more balanced schedule.
Because it is before the drop deadline, my understanding is that this course will not be reflected on my transcript.
